Explore Our Approach

Sustainability Is Not an Afterthought

Trailver was founded in 2026 with a singular belief: the best outdoor gear for pets should leave the lightest footprint on the planet. With decades of combined experience in the pet industry, our team recognized a critical gap in the market—premium products that perform exceptionally while upholding the highest environmental and ethical standards. Every decision we make, from fiber selection to final delivery, is guided by rigorous sustainability principles.

Responsibly Sourced Materials

We meticulously select recycled, organic, and certified materials for every product. Our fabrics meet OEKO-TEX and GRS certifications, ensuring no harmful substances touch your pet.

Every Fiber Has a Story

The foundation of Trailver's sustainability commitment lies in our material choices. We source exclusively from suppliers who meet stringent environmental and ethical criteria. Our recycled polyester is derived from post-consumer plastic bottles, processed in facilities powered by renewable energy. Our organic cotton is GOTS-certified, cultivated without synthetic pesticides, and harvested by workers earning fair wages. For hardware components—buckles, D-rings, and zippers—we partner with manufacturers who utilize closed-loop metal recycling systems, dramatically reducing mining impact.

Every material lot is traceable to its origin. We publish an annual transparency report detailing our supply chain, including factory locations, audit scores, and environmental metrics. This level of openness is rare in the pet industry—and we are proud to lead by example.

Unboxing Without the Waste

Traditional e-commerce packaging generates staggering waste. At Trailver, we have completely eliminated single-use plastics from our packaging suite. Our shipping boxes are crafted from FSC-certified recycled corrugated cardboard, printed with soy-based inks that are fully biodegradable. Internal cushioning uses molded pulp inserts—compostable and made from reclaimed agricultural fiber. Even our packing tape is plant-based and industrially compostable.

The unboxing experience itself is designed to delight without excess. Each Trailver package includes a seed-embedded thank-you card that customers can plant to grow native wildflowers—a small gesture that transforms packaging into purpose. We have reduced our packaging weight by 38% since launch while maintaining complete product protection during transit.

Sustainability is not a marketing term at Trailver—it is the operational backbone of everything we build. We hold ourselves accountable because the pets we serve deserve a thriving planet.

— Trailver Sustainability Council, 2026

Collaborating for a Greener Future

Trailver actively collaborates with nonprofit conservation organizations, material innovation labs, and ethical manufacturing collectives. Our flagship partnership with the American Trail Conservancy funds trail restoration projects across national parks, while our work with the Pet Sustainability Coalition ensures industry-wide progress on environmental standards. We also sponsor research into bio-based alternatives for pet gear components, including algae-derived foams and mycelium-based padding.

These alliances amplify our impact far beyond what we could achieve alone. By sharing our findings openly with the broader pet industry, we accelerate the transition toward sustainable practices that benefit all.

Our 2026 inaugural report is available for download, and we encourage customers, partners, and industry peers to review our data and challenge us to do better.

Your Sustainability Questions, Answered

How does Trailver verify its sustainability claims?
We engage independent third-party auditors to verify all sustainability metrics annually. Our certifications include GOTS, OEKO-TEX, FSC, and GRS. Audit reports are published in full within our annual Sustainability Report. Additionally, we maintain real-time traceability data for our entire supply chain, accessible to verified partners and available in summary form to the public. We welcome scrutiny and encourage customers to review our documentation.
What is the Trailver Take-Back Program?
The Trailver Take-Back Program allows any customer to return a Trailver product at the end of its useful life—free of charge. Simply contact our support team at support@trailver.com to receive a prepaid return label. Once received, our team disassembles the product, separates materials by type, and routes each component to the appropriate recycling stream. We guarantee that 94% of material by weight is recycled or repurposed. Customers who participate receive a 15% discount on their next purchase as a thank-you for helping close the loop.
Are Trailver products more expensive because of sustainable practices?
We price our products to reflect their true cost—including fair wages, quality materials, and environmental responsibility. While sustainable practices can carry higher upfront costs, our direct-to-consumer model eliminates middlemen, allowing us to offer premium sustainable gear at competitive prices. We believe that sustainability should not be a luxury, and we continuously optimize our operations to make eco-conscious pet gear accessible to more families without compromising on quality or ethics.
How does Trailver offset its carbon emissions?
We calculate our full carbon footprint—including Scope 1 (direct), Scope 2 (energy), and Scope 3 (supply chain and product use) emissions. After aggressively reducing emissions wherever possible, we invest in verified carbon offset projects that meet the Gold Standard or Verra VCS certification. Our current offset portfolio includes reforestation in the Pacific Northwest, methane capture at agricultural facilities, and investment in community-owned solar installations. We prioritize offsets that deliver co-benefits such as biodiversity protection and local job creation.
Where are Trailver products manufactured?
Trailver products are manufactured in partner facilities located in Vietnam, Portugal, and the United States. Every facility undergoes rigorous social compliance audits aligned with SA8000 standards, including unannounced inspections. We publicly disclose all factory locations and audit scores in our annual Sustainability Report. Our U.S.-based facility in Bend, Oregon handles prototyping, quality control, and final assembly for select product lines, supporting local craftsmanship and reducing transportation emissions for domestic orders.
What materials does Trailver avoid using?
We maintain a Restricted Substances List (RSL) that exceeds regulatory requirements. We prohibit PFAS (forever chemicals), phthalates, BPA, heavy metals, azo dyes, and chlorine-based bleaching agents across all products and packaging. Our materials team continuously monitors scientific research and updates our RSL as new concerns emerge. We also avoid virgin petroleum-based plastics in favor of recycled or bio-based alternatives wherever technically feasible without compromising product safety or durability.
